Does My Car Need Paint Correction

Updated: Jan 27

Paint correction is the process of removing swirls, scratches, and any other type of paint imperfections from the paint.

By removing 60% to 85% of your paint imperfections, your car’s paint will shine like never before- even more than when the car was sitting in the dealership lot!

Paint correction, for the most part, is more of a personal preference or a luxury you could say.

It’s definitely not needed for the health of your car. A simple and frequent wash, clay and wax will keep your car in great condition.

However, if you’re tired of looking at your car with dull and lifeless paint. If you want to really take your car to the next level, then paint correction is definitely for you.

In this blog post, I’ll outline a few key things you need to be aware of on whether or not paint correction is the right service for your vehicle.

If You Can’t Maintain It, Don’t Do It

Paint correction is a very tiresome, detailed, and long process. Dozens of hours can be put into your car depending on how far you’d like to take it.

Not only does it take patience to perform, but most of the time, when hiring a reputable and professional detailer, it typically costs a lot, too.

Much more than your average car wash detailer that charged $50 for a “full” detail.

So once your car has gone through the paint paint correction process, the second phase goes into it which is maintaining the car at that level of perfection.

You either need to hire the same detailer to maintain your car with frequent car washes or you need to learn yourself (or be taught by the detailer) on how to properly wash your car.

If you decide to pay someone at a local car wash to handle your car, you can bet that after those 15-minutes are up, your car will be in the same condition (or worse) than when you had the imperfection taken out.

If You’re Going To A Car Show, It’s A Must

Everyone loves to show off their car at a car show.

This is going to be the best time for you to properly detail your car with a thorough paint correction. At car shows, you have hundreds and hundreds of spectators walking next to your car and checking It out.

If you really want to ‘wow’ them and make them think you have a fresh paint job, you’ll want to remove the imperfections from the paint.

This is especially true if you have a dark colored car like black, red, or blue. Those types of colors will just pop like no tomorrow.

If it’s an indoor car show, you’re going to have an even higher advantage because there will be a lot of lights shinning down on the cars. Spectators will easily see imperfections in other cars and when it comes to yours, they’ll be completely amazed by it.

You’ll get the question, “Did you just repaint the car?”

What Are The Details In A Detail

As an auto detailer, you’re expected to “cover the details.” As they say, “The devil is in the details.” But how detailed should we get...
